Dr. Saravanan Subramaniam is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) University, Boston. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Pharmacy and Pharmacology from India and earned his Ph.D. from Justus Liebig University, Germany. With over 6 years of postdoctoral experience at Johannes-Gutenberg University, Germany; University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, USA; and Versiti Blood Research Institute, Wisconsin, USA, Dr. Subramaniam is a leading expert in coagulation research. His research focuses on thrombosis, atherothrombosis, and hemostasis, particularly the study of thrombo-inflammatory responses during bacterial and viral infections, including influenza and SARS-CoV-2. He is skilled in intravital imaging of endothelial platelet/leukocyte interactions in live mice. Dr. Subramaniam teaches Anatomy and Physiology, Analytical Techniques I & II and Systems Pharmacology I & II to PharmD, BS/MS, and PhD students. He has received multiple early-career awards from the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) and holds editorial roles, including Associate Editor of Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine and Review Editor for Frontiers in Immunology. His contributions to AACP include reviewing abstracts and award applications. Dr. Subramaniam is currently working on research proposals focused on thromboinflammatory mechanisms, including projects on the TLR3-PAR1 axis and endothelial barrier function. He is committed to mentoring students, advancing vascular disease therapeutics, and collaborating on innovative research in drug discovery and development.
